Each year, the Southwestern Maine Activities Association hosts a leadership summit for the students of its seventeen member schools. Each member school chooses 10 students to attend the summit where they have the opportunity to engage in workshop sessions and hear from guest speakers on the the topics of leadership and citizenship.
On December 9, 2025 the SMAA held its twenty-seventh annual leadership summit at Sanford High School. This years summit theme was "Be the ONE: on the courts, fields, mats & life!". Breakout sessions were presented by;
Meghan Hamilton (Stride Mental Performance LCC) on the topic "Lead like you: Authentic Confidence in Action"
Emma Burke (Mental Performance Coach, UNE) on the topic "head in the Game: The Importance of Mental Health for Athletes"
Andrew Marotta (Surviving & Thriving) on the topic "My Story, My Goals: An Active Goal-Setting Experience"
Andrew Marotta also provided the keynote presentation, "Be the ONE: on the courts, fields, nat & life!". Challenging student-athletes to BE THE ONE that others want on their teams to play, lead and be around.

Chandler Fenner (2014 Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Champion) on the topic "Leadership through the ranks, climbing to the top of success"
Jason Fuller (Athletic Administrator, Lewiston High School) on the topic "Humanity & Compassion in the Face of Adversity - A Community's Experience"
Andrew Marotta (Surviving & Thriving) on the topic "My Story, My Goals: An Active Goal-Setting Experience"
